Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac Rehabilitation involves exercise, education and professional medical guidance designed to help you recover safely from a cardiac procedure. Participants will learn new physical and dietary options, cardiac risk factors, stress management and the essentials of a healthy lifestyle for a more comfortable state of wellness.

Health professionals monitor your blood pressure, heart rate and rhythm via telemetry and potential adverse symptoms to identify problems before they become dangerous. During your rehabilitation program, our staff stays in close communication with your primary physician and the cardiac rehabilitation medical director.

The Cardiac Rehabilitation program can last up to 36 sessions and includes safe, personalized and supervised exercise. We address not only the symptoms of heart disease, but also the root causes.Ultimately, our objectives are to prevent or delay future hospital visits and improve your holistic well-being.

Cardiac conditions

Our program is primarily used by patients following heart procedures, but cardiac rehabilitation can also help those who are at high risk for heart disease. Heart conditions that benefit from our cardiac rehabilitation include:

  • Recovering from open heart surgery
  • Heart attack
  • Coronary angioplasty and stent(s)
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Angina

Benefits and balance

  • Cardiac rehabilitation is an opportunity for you to increase your exercise safely while building confidence in your abilities to cope with the fears that can arise after a cardiac event.
  • Participating in our program will help you become a more informed partner in your recovery to help you work more effectively with your doctor.
  • Your heart condition may require you to make significant change in your lifestyle, and without a concentrated effort at rehabilitation, your recovery may take much longer.
  • Our staff is here to help you find a balance between appropriate and inappropriate activity.

Referral required

To participate in the Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program and to qualify for insurance coverage, you must be referred by your doctor. Once you have completed the outpatient monitored program, we encourage you to continue in our maintenance program, Phase III, which continues to offer supervised exercise.
