Polson Childbirth & Family Classes
Providence St. Joseph Medical Center offers education classes to ease your way into this new stage of your life. Our classes are taught by certified childbirth educators and are designed to prepare you and give you peace of mind during these next exciting phases of your life, from pre-delivery to life with a baby at home. Space is limited. Registration is required.
- Healthy Mom, Healthy Baby
This four-class series is for moms who want to optimize their health early in pregnancy. We will talk about nutrition, healthy food choices, exercise, common pregnancy discomforts and ideas on how to minimize them, preparing for labor and birth, birthing basics, postpartum recovery, reducing labor stress and birth relaxation and pain management.
- Childbirth Preparation
This class explores the physical, mental and emotional process of labor and will enrich your understanding of what your body and baby do throughout the birthing process.
- Natural Childbirth Class
A class for parents hoping for an un-medicated, natural birth. Learn about natural childbirth, the stages of labor and birth, and non-medicinal ways to reduce pain, including positioning and breathing techniques.
Parenting and Child Safety Classes
- Breastfeeding & Newborn Care
A one-evening class combining breastfeeding and newborn care. The prenatal breastfeeding class is designed for mothers who plan to breastfeed, and for those that have not yet made the decision, but want to learn more. In Newborn Care Basics, you’ll discover ways to ease your baby’s transition into the world, enhance your understanding of how to read your newborn’s signs and cues, and develop confidence in your ability to meet your infant’s basic needs.
