Missoula, Montana—Providence Health & Services Western Montana and the Greater Missoula Family YMCA recently partnered to address current and emergent health trends and concerns in the greater Missoula area.

Over the next three years, Providence Western Montana and the Missoula Y will work together to grow preventive health care options in the community. Efforts include a physical Providence presence at the Missoula Family Y in its Health & Wellness Center and free one-month Y Family Memberships for new mothers who deliver at Providence.

Providence will take the role of title sponsor for Missoula Y programs and events including the Active 6 anti-obesity program, Youth Soccer League, and the annual YMCA Riverbank Run. St. Pat’s will also be a key supporter in the Y’s SPLASH! (Swim, Play, and Learn Aquatic Safety Habits) drowning prevention program.

"This partnership continues our efforts to provide better access to health care education and prevention programs to the Missoula area,” said Samer Khodor, M.D., Providence Western Montana chief physician executive for ambulatory care. "Both Providence and the Y have long been involved in improving the health and well-being of our communities, and our collaboration further supports these efforts."

“The Missoula Y is honored to begin this partnership with Providence Health & Services Western Montana,” says Brian Steffen, CEO of the Greater Missoula Family YMCA. “Missoula has a long history of proactively addressing health challenges in Montana. We are proud to stand with Providence in the fight against disease, illness, distress, discouragement, and epidemics.”
