10th Annual Heart Expo
March 26, 2013
On Saturday, April 13, 2013, Western Montanans are invited to the 10th annual Heart Expo at the St. Patrick Hospital Broadway Building Conference Center. The Heart Expo is one of the biggest events of the year for St. Patrick Hospital and the International Heart Institute of Montana. This year is especially significant because the Heart Institute has been designated a Top 50 Heart Hospital in the U.S. and was honored for having one of the lowest heart failure readmission rates in the nation.
Starting at 7 AM until 11 AM, participants will be able to get a blood screen test for $5, a prostate specific antigen (PSA) test for $10 and a thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) test for $10. Payment is by cash or check. As always, those tested should not eat or drink anything 12 hours before the test. Refreshments will be provided after screenings are complete.
Throughout the morning, physicians and care providers from the International Heart Institute will present a series of free informative lectures on new technology in cardiology, heart surgery, and heart disease prevention in men and women. Attendees can browse over 30 educational displays, demonstrations and information booths.
There will also be heart healthy cooking demonstrations and cooks will prepare delicious dishes using heart healthy ingredients. Heart healthy breakfast and lunch, snacks, coffee and other beverages will be served throughout the event.
The Heart Expo is a free public event and no registration is required. Past Heart Expos have brought in over 1,000 people, and this year should bring in even more participants.
