Patient Ratings and Comments

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments. These comments are the views and opinions of patients and are not endorsed by or necessarily reflect the views of Providence.

I was a little disconcerted that I was put on new cardiac meds with no f/u appt. - but I arranged that with my usual provider - and, since my potassium stayed @ [...] I'll also arrange a potassium level. Since I worked in health care before retiring, this is fine, but I'd be concerned that another patient might just keep taking the potassium until someone thought of a recheck, or that person got into trouble. Here, as often happens, communication is a problem. I could have been a better patient, and asked. I'm sure my primary thought Dr. Maddox wld f/u, and he thought she would.

I have been a patient of Dr. Maddux for about seven years at which time my previous cardiologist retired. I am now 86 years old, and have been treated for heart problems since 1975 when I was 45 years old. Dr. Maddux is very familiar with my medical records over that long period and has shown a real interest in that history. I think he's doing his best to keep me going a little longer.
