International Heart Institute
"I’m so thankful for all of their efforts to save my life." - Kathryn Kuebler
During a routine check-up with my primary care provider in October of this year, my doctor noticed that my heart did not sound right and ordered an EKG. I had always been an active person and was in good health, or so I thought. As an avid skier and former ski instructor in Mt. Hood, Oregon, I was never out of breath, and never suspected I had any health issues whatsoever. Imagine my shock when I found out there was a dime-sized hole in my heart.
I am a proud volunteer at St. Patrick Hospital and as coincidence has it, I volunteer at the International Heart Institute (IHI), giving me the opportunity to know the doctors and staff and the incredible caliber of care they provide. Once diagnosed with my heart defect, I knew without a doubt that I would go to IHI for my heart surgery.
During my surgery, Dr. Matt Maxwell found a second hole in my heart and repaired both of my valves. Montana is blessed to have IHI and I feel lucky that Dr. Maxwell discovered and repaired the holes in my heart. As a volunteer, I have seen the way the staff at IHI works as a team for every patient they serve. Now that I have become a patient, I am so thankful for all of their efforts to save my life too.
In my opinion, St. Pat’s is the best hospital in Montana; people come from all over to be treated here. St. Patrick Hospital’s International Heart Institute was named one of the 50 top heart hospitals in the nation, landing for the sixth time on Truven Health’s Top Cardiovascular Hospitals list. IHI also holds the distinction of being ranked number one in the nation for lowest heart failure readmissions by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Please consider making a gift that will make a difference to heart patients in Montana. Your entire gift will go to St. Patrick Hospital, so they can provide exceptional care without exceptions. You can designate your gift to support IHI or any of the wonderful programs at St. Patrick Hospital. Join me in making a gift to St. Pat’s and thank you for your generosity!
